I Understand, this is a sensitive topic for some frequent meat eaters, but today I will discuss the pros of going Vegan, Vegetarian, or at Least Pescatarian, and the cons of these… because there is always two sides to the story.

First, what do these terms mean, well If you readers don’t know, being vegetarian means you don’t consume foods with any meats in them, and pescatarian means the only meat being consumed is Fish. Vegan is a little bit harder to describe and follow through on - being vegan means you can’t consume or even use any animal products, more than just not eating meat, it means not consuming dairy, Eggs, Honey, etc. With this diet, is harder to get protein, which is much needed, especially for a growing child and rider. Personally, I am a pescatarian, but the only fish I can eat is Salmon, and some Shellfish. It’s not easy to go from consuming dark meats on a regular basis, to completely cutting them out and substituting them for, well, greens and beans. I believe for riders who test many boundaries, physically, and growing children, being pescatarian or vegetarian is the best option for your body.Let’s go through the pros and cons of these diets: One, is that they help your body in ways such as making it easier to digest food, and will help increase your metabolism, making it easier when you can’t suddenly eat donuts and ice cream all day. Also, Getting your veggies in is so great for your body; the healthier foods you consume, your energy increases as well you stay full longer eliminating snack time, which nobody really needs so much as wants. Going pescatarian helped me lose weight as well as feel like I was providing my body with the stuff to help me succeed. The cons: I used to eat meat, I didn’t come out of the womb knowing I wanted to limit my meat eating and soon end it permanently, and no I did it just cut out most meat because I live in health central, California. So I understand and acknowledge, that steak, or chicken, shrimp, or tuna is good, especially at your favorite restaurant, and it is hard at first to give all that up. It is also harder to find vegetarian options at restaurants, and dishes that showcase the food well, but it is possible to find some! Some places don't just have salads, cause that's what everyone assumes when they think vegetarian. Veganism is a whole

nother’ thing, but has many benefits to help the earth and your body. It is definitely a struggle to find vegan foods at normal restaurants, but

with so many people making the switch to veganism, more and more places are opening up. Vegan food uses natural products that are so good for you, and will fill you up. The cons, the food is usually higher in calories, and it is hard to get the right amount of protein, but it in a little hard work, and it is once again possible. How do these diets help the earth - well, as extreme as P.E.T.A is, everyone has seen their videos and seen the conditions of factories and farms that house animals.

The animals are treated with no respect and in terrible conditions, why, because they are viewed as less than and food. It isn’t right to treat a living thing like that, even if they are animals. Lastly, and this sounds bogus but it is true, cows fart methane when kept in factories, which is terrible for the earth and polluting the air.Let me send you along on this health eating journey with a few suggestions of where to dine for vegan food and vegetarian options - Gracias Madres, a Spanish vegan food restaurants with a fun vibe for parties, Cafe Gratitude, Food you could never imagine did not contain animal products and a place to reflect with the question of the day they provide, and True Food Cafe, which has options of vegetarian or Vegan and is a quick bite. Not to mention there are plenty of vegan recipes online that are easy to make and delicious. And haven't you all read the book where the girl eats too much junk food and the only cure is EVERYTHING GREEN!!
